Mastering the Fundamentals of Soccer: Dribbling Drills II

Last Saturday was a success! Thanks everyone for coming down to Strike Sports Football Collab - my first ever vintage football pop-up. Now, let’s get back into some dribbling business!

At Strike Soccer School, we place a strong emphasis on developing dribbling from the very first session. Last week, we discussed some dribbling drills to practise on. Today, let’s introduce some advanced dribbling moves.

Advanced Dribbling Moves

Once you’ve mastered the basics, try incorporating some advanced moves:

  1. Step-Over: A deceptive move where you step over the ball with one foot to fake a direction change, then take the ball in the opposite direction with the other foot.

  2. Cruyff Turn: Named after the legendary Johan Cruyff, this move involves faking a shot or pass, then pulling the ball behind your standing leg with the inside of your foot.

  3. Scissors: A double step-over move to trick defenders into thinking you’re going one way, then quickly moving in the opposite direction.

Final Thoughts

Dribbling is a skill that requires practice, patience, and persistence. By focusing on the fundamentals and continuously challenging yourself with new drills and techniques, you’ll see significant improvements in your control, agility, and overall gameplay. Remember, the key to becoming a great dribbler is to practise regularly and never be afraid to try new moves on the field.

At Strike Soccer School, we’re committed to helping our players master the art of dribbling and all other essential soccer skills. Join us for our after-school programs and experience the joy of soccer while building a strong foundation in the sport.

Happy dribbling!
